Today Imelda kicks off her A/W 08/09 trend analysis and each week I’ll cover off a key trend that will impact on how you dress your feet in the colder months.
Yes, Imelda hears your pleas and I know you, my Northern Hemisphere friends, haven’t even shimmied out of your thermals - but tough titties! It’s cold in Imelda’s part of the world AND I have a mega wisdom tooth (two teeth that have fused into one and yes, it’s as pleasant as it sounds) giving me ‘hurry-curry’. So I’m in no mood for clemency!
In my dizzy drug enduced haze Imelda has zeroed in on the ‘Feature Heel’. I know that we all gasped and reached for our pearls during Fashion Week(s) at the lunacy…oops, those were mummy’s pills talking…at the genius of Madame Prada et al. But a few of these glories did go unnoticed.
I must have nodded off during the Giles show because I can’t fathom how I missed the crystal extravaganza! You’ll remember the Loewe ‘light bulb’ heel from a recent poll, but I bet you didn’t know there was a screwdriver heel in that toolbox. Boycotting the Marc Jacobs show, I missed his (and it pains Imelda to write this) relatively normal stacked cylindrical ‘feature heel’. But is the O ring a nod to his kinky after-hours shenanigans?
Will this filter down to the High Street? Yes, but don’t expect to be clomping around the supermarket in shoes that look as though you’ve got artifacts from the Pantheon attached to your trotters! Keep Miu Miu’s tonal contrasting and Prada’s set-back heel in mind when looking to work this trend.

yeah these ones are hard to work. More theatrics for the catwalk perhaps.

Wait, is that a reinforced-toe stocking I see on the Crystal Extravaganza?
All these are incredible.

The blue and bronze sandals with the "wings" remind me of the Sydney Opera House.

Jacqueline - I tend to agree and I imagine they'll come with a hefty price tag!
enc - hahahaha...I was wondering is someone would mention that horror! Reinforced ho's on the catwalk, is not something Imelda approves of.
B - How was the holiday? Yes it does nice pick-up!

Why would anyone want to wear a shoe that looks like a goitre?
I have to go and wash my eyes out with the Tanarexia post.
ps. Maddie is on the cover of Elle and Q mag now. Do you want them shipped over hon?
xx
