Imelda needs your help…KAREN magazine has asked The Despot to compile a list of the Top 20 Bloggers to watch in 2009. I argued that Imelda was the only blog to watch, now that Imelda’s on the masthead of KAREN, doesn’t that entitle me to be take a dip in the pool of print media nepotism?
Much to my annoyance, my Editor in Chief decreed that’s not how KAREN magazine rolls. WTF? A principled fashion magazine! Here I was thinking that I had boarded another gravy train!
Despite being an omnipresent force in blogsphere, I can’t be everywhere and read everything. As an opinionated fire sign I have my thoughts, but I want to hear from you - my Imeldette’s, who are the bloggers to watch in ‘09?
An Imelda post isn’t a post unless there’s some shoes (otherwise it’s rant) and I was most excited to learn that Liberty of London have just opened their amazing ‘House of Heels’.
Liberty’s Head of Press, and Imelda’s old friend Kate Brindley, told me that the boutique is “gorgeously fitted out in true Liberty style”, I guess I’ll have to accept her word…because I wasn’t invited to cut the ribbon…and I’ve been practising my scissor kicks for months.
She went on to tell me that she was excited that Liberty had snared exclusives with Imelda’s beloved Nicholas Kirkwood and Rupert Sanderson. Kick a despot while she’s down why-don’t-cha! And it gets worse (I know you’re all thinking - Imelda how could it)! She attached these images of said ‘exclusives’.
So Miss Kate from London’s Liberty, when Imelda’s next on a slow boat to the Ole Blighty be sure that my VIP card is waiting at immigration - otherwise you’ve got a hot date with my Taser Heels!
UPDATE Susie, next shoot I'll know to give those distracting Slavic beauties a wide berth...xxxx

Unfair Imelda, I will go and light a candle for you on Regent Street next visit. (hopefully will not get dragged away by anti-terrorism police on horseback while doing so. Actually, that might be okay if they are cute in their jodphurs)
So that gives me 2 reasons to go to the Westend. (apart from kick arse Vietnamese Cafe in Chinatown)
I am loving that Pink Wannabee Tribute. Heaven. The imitation exceeds the orginal. mm mmm xx

Liberty of London is my favorite shop in the world. I could and have spent hours there . . . I'd buy anything and everything from House of Heels.

H - Be sure to ask them where they purchase those sexay jods! In future should The Depost be unable to attend such engagements you can be mothers proxy.
MC - Hmmm, I'm not sure how I've missed the Liberty experience but I'll be damn sure it doesn't happen again!

I could live in the House of Heels! Beautiful.
Posted by: Iheartfashion | August 10, 2008 at 12:02 AM
oh so punny! been practising your scissor kicks have you? some how i don't think an (ageing) despot in fabulous shoes will be much good with scissor kicking high enough to cut the ribbon. :(
does the girl in the first picture have a big tan bald spot? she looks like krusty the clown.
Posted by: marmalade wombat | August 10, 2008 at 12:05 AM
Heart - Me too.
MW - WTF! You need to either pass that bong to Imelda or put it down, cos my high kicks are legendary...just ask Nancy! No it's a manni and she's wearing a camp eye patch. Why? To shield her eyes from the harsh lighting.

House of Heels looks amazing.
To answer your question:
Lady Melbourne!
If that girl does not become famous soon, then there's something wrong with this world!
Posted by: The Collector | August 10, 2008 at 01:33 AM
I agree that Lady Melbourne should be on the list of "those to watch." But so should Super Kawaii Mama. I'm not up on all the other Aussie bloggers, so I'll shut it now.
I can't believe they left you out of the loop for that shoe launch. I hope you're on a plane with your taser right now!

A list of the Top 20 Bloggers to watch in 2009... Hmmm....
That's your call darling!!!!!!!!
(Too soon what if the blog changes? Well, I'll think of it...)
OOOOOOO I went to see the site... House of Heels seems amazing.
Didn't saw if they sell on-line... but they must be too expensive for me, so I'm putting the url in my favorites and will look to clean the eyes LOL.

Surely you are allowed to be nominated dear Imelda! Well, I nominate you and thats that!!

Urgggh - just left smart comment that didn't take!
OK, Aussie bloggers to watch are SKM and Lady Melbourne. They're the only 2 I know other than you, but if all Aus bloggers are as good as you three, y'all are about to take over the world.
Times of Glory and No Signposts in the Sea are great fashion-oriented, pictoral blogs.
I have some great thoughts about style blogs, that are as much about the writers as fashion (observationmode, already pretty), but I'm not sure if this fits KAREN's profile?

i do like the purple painted wall.

Collector - agreed but the list is more international...not to say the LM isn't a consideration.
Enc - refer to the above comment
Seeker - let me know what you uncover.
LC - Yes so do I
SR - thanks...you know Imelda's down with nepotism
K - many thanks my friend.

PPP - oops you just slipped thru...it's a statement!

Whoever decorated the place has it all wrong. C'mon, really? A 'House of Heels' without Imelda is like a 'House of Penises' without John Holmes ;)
Let the redecorating begin!

I would vote for (after you of course Immie) Lady Melbourne, Super K, Fashion Hayley from Aus.
But surely your comments list will give them the leads they need?
And Snap! I just commented on Lady Melbourne's air hostess jacket, and then read your comment AFTERWARDS.
Great minds!!
Would love to see a bit of Olympics Uniform bitching if anyone has time?

I've been thinking about this post all day, giving some serious consideration as to who I would put on that list. For a mix of fashion, art and inspiration, not to forget a wicked sense of humor, I'll have to go with Trend De La Creme.

Does Karen want Aussie bloggers only? Because really you can't go past the divine miss gala darling http://galadarling.com/ For overseas what about http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/ or http://thethoughtfuldresser.blogspot.com/ and obviously your own blog should be a the top of the list - hell, put it there twice.

of all the shops in london, i miss liberty the most... those blue shoes are deserving of even cinderella herself!
:)
as for bloggers... 20? wow that would be hard.. but i'm guessing garance dore is going to be the new street fashion darling. and deservingly so.

I won't be so conceited to recommend myself!
I'd say Lady Melbourne for sure, and maybe Fash Rash too (www.fashrash.com).

What a task! I still consider myself a bit of a newbie, but I'd suggest Smaggle Style and support the nominations for Lady Melbourne and Super Kawaii Mama. It might be safe to say that everyone is already watching Gala Darling ... I assume KAREN is mainly interested on bloggers in your lovely hemi?
I don't know Liberty of London, but I sure would like to. Those photos taunt me with their beauty!
