HELL JUST FROZE OVER!
With the new compound sorted there was no need for the Despotic Queen to continue sneaking around strange person’s (often untidy) abodes, so my Saturday was wide open. I decided to saddle up the buggy and took myself over to the Glebe Markets for a spot of lunch and a looksee.
Like the majority of Sydney markets, Glebe is a mix of new designers, vintage sellers and sad menopausal cat ladies hawking incense and beads.
Imelda has a thorny relationship with op shopping (thrifting), just thinking that I could be wearing a dead person’s clothing and I start self-medicating. But then once in a while I find something so brilliant that I’m forced to face my fears – yesterday was one of those days!
Windsor Smith isn’t a footwear brand I’m compelled to speak of in this hallowed space (the reasoning why can only be appreciated by Australian Imeldette’s) however the importance of owning shoes that were ‘Made in Australia’ out ways my objections. So without further delay - Imelda’s hilariously camp new second hand shoes..
I think you’ll concur it was
the best $35 I’ve ever spent. Of course new shoes need to be seen and in
keeping with their fagalisciousness I decided to hit le discothèque in this….
Now I’ve indulged my ego
it’s time to get back to shoe-talk. It’s Sunday so it’s time for a new poll and
this week I’m asking Should Imelda Buy these delicious Chrissie Morris platform
wedges?

Excellent news about the compound, magnificent outfit, and as for those shoes...
Who the hell was the original owner of those? I think I had some exactly the same circa 1986 and I was a 14 year old girl!

Abso-f**king-lutely. That's dirt cheap for what it is.
Is that your camera remote you're holding? Cute.

Windsor Smith do shoes like THAT?
'Bout time you got some good proddie parsimony into your lifestyle.
I am liking the platforms too by the way. Just my style for getting the good sherry glasses off the top shelf.

Honestly one of the most conflicting experiences I've had is when I was sorting through a pile of fabulous vintage clothes at the Camberwell market, and I looked up and caught the gaze of the stallholder - a very young man who was chatting on his phone absently (not the kind of person who seemed to have a vested interest in supplying fantastic vintage clothing). I suddenly realised in all likelyhood he was there on behalf of a family trying to sell off all their dead grandmother's worldly posessions. I dropped the blouses and left the stall.
Love the shoes with the skinny jeans and mixed prints. You've got such brilliant style!

Without question, the best 35 bucks! They are amazing on you.

I voted "yes" (of course!), to the platforms. Holy cow, those are really something.
Now, I love those camp basket shoes, but was really surprised when I saw you wore socks with them. Why did I think they needed to reveal flesh to be MaxiCamp?

You look so happy!
Love the outfit and how you're wearing the shoes! I'm guessing you had a plaid-check day!

Oh god yes, buy those platforms! They are hot. As are you :) I love it when you post outfit pics, you don't do it often enough.
I love the details in how you style yourself, like the way you've rolled your jackets cuffs to show the smaller check lining...sigh!
And you always give good sock, haha :)

Although the cultural significance of Windsor Smith is lost on me, I LOVE THESE. And love the outfit and accompanying dance moves. I missed you, Imelda!

That is a tremendous amount of pattern. Tremendous.

Delicious and so very you. Had you not bought them I am sure they would have haunted you for an age. And when it comes to dead peoples clothes... well so long as they weren't buried in them, it's cool with me.
