It’s Friday so that means it’s time that we take a bow peep at another SS09 footwear trend. This morning the Despotic Queen took to ‘Twitter’ to ask the masses what SS09 trend they’d like to know more about (look at me being all inclusive) and the lovely Shelby Marie from P!NK suggested moccasins (clutches pearls). Instead of slamming her fingers in the car door for typing such suggestions, I explained moccasins were covered last winter (look at me being nice) and we’d be looking at lacing.
Now the SS09 parades are a distant memory (is it wrong that I’m chomping at the bit for the AW10 collections?) I (foolishly) anticipated this would be a 15 / 20 pic micro trend. WRONG! I was forced to stop at 37 (known designers) who have used lacing, but I know of another 10 more.
Scroll down and you’ll see Designers have used everything from thick rope (Hardy), ribboning (Gaultier) and delicate leather thonging (Steiger). The styling is varied, Camilla Skovgaard used corset styling lacing to trim her heel counters, while at Manish Arora, Raphael Young used thick strapping that laced aggressively up the leg. Ann Demeulmeester and Doo.R’s fetish inspired sandals have the most skirt-lifting appeal, while at Vuitton it looks like Marc Jacobs got busy with a hot glue gun and the contents of Imelda’s drag bag.
Should my beloved Imeldettes be bullish enough to give this trend a crack then heed Mother’s advise - unless you’ve been blessed (like Imelda) with the bone structure of a sparrow don’t tie anything thicker than dental floss around your ankle. Trust me, your ankle isn’t a Christmas ham so there’s no need to truss it like one.

While I love their ballet beauty and their tie me up tie me down looks, this is one trend that is just not kind to those of us with less than slender ankles.
Note to self: Book in for some ankle lipo pre spring so I can work those Ohne Titel's in the fiercest possible fashion.

Can I just start by fluffing you a bit? Ok.
The way you talk about shoes and trends gives me a total girl boner.
Second- your sass is off the charts redic and I love it.
Ok, not here's my time. I'd just like to say to all the junior Imeld-ettes, that I covered the rope trend (in a cute and sassy way IMO) in my Harajuku Lovers line, which will be shipping in Feb. :D
he he he.
Nothing wrong with a little self promotion?

Ohhh, I do love looking at them but they'd be tricky to wear.
The ankle straps would have to be very carefully placed and one couldn't suffer from cankles!
I love the V Westwoods - and seeing as the volume is below the ankle, I think they'd be flattering.
You're so cheeky re Evelyn Miles. I agree, a scoops a scoop, thats why we love you <3
Have a fabby weekend Mr, err, Ma'am ;)

I'd totally rock the VW ones (#37) if they're cloesd-toed.

I'm going to need a lie down as I actually liked the VW ones, one and all - am I indanger of turning into an old hag!

Ooohh... I love them, they are very summer! x

How on earth do Louis Vuitton make twine look so damn appealing?? I do adore the fact that they have played so wonderfully on such a practical design aspect. The only downside will be seeing legs with indents from the laces!

Phew - I can't stand VW after her minge display and the fact she just bores me but the shoes are divine and my old crystal meth mate MJ ain't half bad either (soz). you were right about Sir Bob ( does it at Mulberry)!

Sorry but I'm just not loving the Ann D laceups. What the hell is going on there? The bizarre width of the lacing, the flatness... no no no!
Ackermann on the other hand... delicious.

I haven't tried lacing at all. Now I want to, though. Even the flats have some decent lacing looks.

What a roundup! As always, I'm drawn to the minimalist options: 2, 23, 27, and 36.

I'm mad for # 37. But I do get very cross when a dress-up shoe (# 10) is marred by what looks to be a regular, u.g.l.y. shoelace!

I adore these tie up shoes but they are so darn hard to wear. Couple years ago I bought a pair of Hermes strappy tie up heels and wore that pair exactly twice b/c I can't walk.

There's nothing like being solely tied into knots on a hot, sweltering day !!!! I luv the Hussien Chalayan soles !

I love seeing all this, but I must follow "Mother" advice... :) and be careful with what ankle straps might look on my ankles!!!
So my friend, is everything ok with you??? Hope soooooo!
Thank you for your so always pleasent comments.
By the way thank you for the half day off. As for the extra bowl of slop for dinner to workers I decided to sale them, to make an extra money to buy something for me. Anyway they aren't used to eat more LOL LOL LOL

Totally agree with you on people without great ankle bone structure should not have anything thicker than dental floss around their ankle.

Usually, university teachers are willing to analyse the free term papers writing ability of some their students, however not all students are able to write professionally just because of lack of time or other things. Thus, a custom writing service should aid to write the essay topic very fast.
