“Please don’t ask me where we get the inspiration because I don’t know...” laughed Giulio Steiger, “You already know that will be my answer”. “True-true” I replied, it was worth a shot.
Steiger has been kind enough (again) to give the Despotic Queen and her Imeldettes an EXCLUSIVE preview of his father’s A/W 09/10 collection. As I flicked through the look book my touchstone of tyranny was tingling, just as I was about to ‘ride it home’ I reached the end of the look book. “What’s this fuckery” I SCREAMED, was I only given half the collection, where are all the other shoes and my shoegasm?
Ring, ring, ring “Ciao Giulio, it’s Imelda….(insert verbal rampage)” drawing breath (which is always a mistake) Guilio interjected “Imelda I’m glad you like the collection” He was speaking the gospel truth…for the past 4 seasons Walter Steiger 2.0 BETA, has kept Imelda’s petty pants moist and my credit card groaning…my immediate thought was this was Steiger’s response to the - yawn - WEC.
“True it is smaller than previous
seasons but not really because of the WEC. I’ve noticed that all the people
from press were a bit disoriented when they had the collection in front of
them, I think they are not used to seeing so many styles,” replied Steiger. “Actually
we did many others styles that are not in the catalogue”.
Considering (it’s time for sweeping
generalization) the vast majority of my print collogues are empty headed trust
funders, propped up by ADD medication with NO IDEA that Walter Steiger is
footwear royalty, editing the collection for press was a smart move. Gulio
continued to explain, “they (fashion media) like to focus on one shoe and say "this
is the shoe of the season”.
But the winds of change are blowin’…“things are going really well” reports Steiger “The press is finally starting to believe in us again”. Which I was delighted to hear but Imelda has always been a true believer. I’ve worshipped before the great Steiger for years (which you can view HERE, HERE and HERE.)
Imelda isn’t the only
international glamour girl who’s been getting all hot and moist over Steiger.
Guilio confirmed the rumors that Sasha Fierce aka Beyonce will be getting
booty-licious with Steiger’s A/W 08/09 sequin knee high boots on her ‘I AM’ world
tour. It’s at this point that the Despotic Queen demonstrates remarkable restraint by not
drawing your attention to the fact that the Crazy (in Love) singer’s own fashion
label, House of Diarrhoea, has a line of footwear.
Anyhoo…any and all press Beyonce can draw to the legendary footwear brand will be welcomed by the DQOS with arms open wide.
If you can’t get enough Steiger in your life, and let’s be honest who can’t, Guilio revealed, “In September we will be opening a big store in Paris called Steiger Bottier.” Steiger excitedly explained the new store would specialize in bespoke footwear for women. “You will see the people making shoes, actually it will be like a living museum. This concept is a world first for footwear and I’m very excited about it.” Guilio, so is Imelda...just not as excited as I am about the A/W 09/10 collection.
