Over
the weekend the zex-zy Fraulines from Les Mads gave their readers a preview
proper of the new Acne A/W 09 collection. After spotting their post the
Despotic Queen frantically tried a snatch and run with the images but the Fraus
Fabulous stopped me cold by embedding some HTML trickery into their blog.
Thankfully,
Frau Chuh Chuh was on the case and overnight posted a selection of flatlays
that I could work off.
Imelda
loves hipster irony and I’m down with those Scandi designers but I’ll freely
admit my interest in Acne is zero to none. The Despotic Queen’s last Acne post
(READ HERE)
prompted a range of responses, mostly questioning the stability of the nail
heel, but the one comment that echoed in my thoughts was left by Imelda’s
hometown gurl (and fellow Shoe Blogger) Shoes Mend Hearts.
Shoes wrote “I don't rate it
at all. I don't think they fit with Acne's brand of simple and effortless cool,
they make far too much of a statement”
If 'Shoes' thought one nail heel was making ‘too much of a statement’ then mercy, what will she (and YOU) make of the 'tri nail' heel.
You
might think the disconnect between the brand’s orthopaedic aesthetic and these
headline grabbing heels is astounding but the Buyers have their cheque books
open. Amber Long, Director of Jean Brown revealed that she’s placed an order on
Acne’s rusty (single) heel for her Queensland based luxury emporium. In our conversation
that followed my last Acne post (when Imelda questioned the originality of
the heel) Long admitted to the Despotic Queen “I like the rusty heel
hardware even if it’s not original”
