L' Gristle Pins isn’t the only
person in Paris to tickle the Despotic Queen’s touchstone of tyranny.
Rei Kawakubo shows she has a
wicked albeit left-of-centre sense of humor with these ravioli rolla-boots.
According to one Comme staffer, the
boots were inspired by Kawakubo’s ‘maniacal obsession with mid priced U.S pasta
eatery, Olive Garden’. The insider also claims Kawakubo has taken to locking herself
in her room for extended periods, refusing to eat nothing, except the chains famed ‘Caprese Flatbread’.
“We have to have it (the
flatbread) flown in from the States,” said the near hysterical worker “if it
doesn’t arrives in time she turns into Rei-zilla. Once the flight was
delayed and we couldn’t get the bread to her in time, she curled into a
ball and started shrieking before torching
her entire collection of Hello Kitty memorabilia”
None of this should come as a
surprise to any industry watchers as the Japanese designer is famed for her
esoteric collections and references.
