This morning in an attempt to jump-start the Despotic Queen’s touchstone of tyranny, Yum Yum took to my secret women’s business with the difibulator paddles.
Three
quarters of an hour later the prognosis wasn’t good, it would seem that Milan
Fashion Week left Imelda not so high but plenty dry.
“You
want mouth-to-mouth Mrs?” asked Yum Yum a little too eagerly. “Thank you, but
not today” I replied wearily. “What about a tase? It always make Mrs feel
better. Tase. Tase” she begged.
True,
nothing lifts ones disposition more than inflicting pain on one’s staff, but it
was the start of Paris Fashion Week and such frivolous distractions needed to avoided.
After all the wonderful honors that have been bestowed upon HRH by the
beautiful people of Paris, Imelda needed to step up and deliver her best A game
to-date.
I
needn’t have worried because the moment I logged into Dries Van Noten my heart soared
and the doggerel days of Milan became nothing more than a distant nightmare.
The
house presented a refined collection, confirming Imelda’s earlier report, that the
‘pump/court’ will be the key silhouette for A/W 10/11.
Noten introduced several masculine elements including stitched rands, which beautifully juxtaposed the rolled throat lines that sweep dramatically around the foot before dipping through the heel counter.
The
pump may be Noten’s signature for A/W 10/11 however the designer switched
between a stiletto and a stacked demi-wedge heel.
His
choice of fabrication (suede and crocodile) and colour palette was in keeping
with the effortlessness of the apparel. Whilst Noten’s embellished toe caps
left Imelda’s weave tingling with memories of the late Roger Vivier’s intricate
hand beading.
Paris, Mother Imelda’s (swollen) touchstone of tyranny thinks this will be a season to remember…bring it on!
