‘Hard Hearted Harlot’ (even with a couple of beers under Imelda’s Fendi corset belt I can’t seem to spit it out) is one of my new finds from the Micam Shoe Fair. Collaboration between Portuguese shoe factory ‘Meigo’ and English footwear designers Carol and Perry King, the concept brand is in its fourth year.
The styling (which is sportive with a classic finish), fine Italian leathers, and the marriage of traditional and modern manufacturing methods are divine, but what's got Imelda sizzlin’ is the name – ‘Hard Hearted Harlot’! Sometimes it’s all in the name and this one’s Imeldalicious.
Why? It sounds tough and despotic, which naturally appeals to my ego. I was once quoted as saying "I am looking like an airhead, like a frivolous, wanton, extravagant women at the expense of the poor. I am made to look like a cheap flirt, flirting with all the men of the world."
I’ll take looking extravagant at the expense of the poor on the chin - unfortunately the downside of tyranny is the poor always come-off looking better! But ‘cheap flirt’? I think not…maybe (insert shockingly bad segue) ’Hard Hearted Harlot’ at a stretch.
